I am a member of the British Infertility Counselling association (BICA) and offer support and implications counselling (implications of IVF, Donor and Surrogacy) for individuals and couples (heterosexual and same sex) through all aspects of fertility treatment.
Facing the prospect of infertility can be deeply anxiety provoking and painfully sad, for me this is akin to a process of mourning. I offer a safe place to explore these thoughts and feelings as well as to work out how to face the uncertainties of the process and the rollercoaster of emotions that can arise.
Whilst I work with both men and women going through this process - I am particularly interested in working with men. The reason for this is that there are very few male psychotherapists who specialise in this area and yet recent statistics indicate that male fertility issues relate to 37% of IVF/ICSI treatments in recent years. Men historically find it very difficult to open up about their feelings and there is social stigma relating to male infertility.
I am experienced in dealing with the implications for same sex couples working through the process of egg donation and surrogacy and considering the long term implications of these processes.
